I really enjoyed looking at the scriptures referenced in this book from a new and different perspective. What a great scriptural learning experience, to me the scripture references, that I read and pondered are the true value and experience to be enjoyed from this book.

This was an enjoyable read for me that was set in the late 1930s and took the rise of Fascism in Europe, the Constitutional crisis that enveloped King Edward VIII, Sir Oswald Mosley and his British Union of Fascists and National Socialists and melded it into a story that had some plausibility. It is as, other reviewers have said, a story with plotlines and characters that can be second guessed or easily picked up on but this, along with the wider ideas and events in the book, was fine for me, as I wanted an easy to read break from non-fiction - and after all there are many other wider read or popular authors who employ this method (or fall into this trap?) so I'm not too hung up with this approach. If you like a good fast paced story with a historic "what if" then this will suit you fine.

I really enjoyed Shields’ last book "The Thing About Life is That One Day You'll be Dead." He is a self-admitted Narcissist of the highest order. Shields’ is always funny, self-effacing and insightful. I can only admire people who just admit that it really is all about them.

A curious read on a subject I certainly had not given much thought to, but alas, I think of it often now. Another read to explain the history of an element in our lives we hardly give notice of.
