Ew.
Very well written, although some sections dragged (mainly the Poet's tale) but when there was action, there was ACTION. Intense (sometimes brutal) battle scenes and a masterfully intriguing plot. Eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.
The title appealed to me, as did the subject: a journalist from the New Yorker's experience living in Paris with his wife and baby son. I've never before read a book so slowly. Each chapter is like a short story. One at a time is enough. But I am enjoying it, and it is providing me with a very good few pages to read before going to sleep each night. It explores topics that make French life unique. Some are more profound than others (politics vs sports vs the children's puppet show in the Luxembourg Gardens!), but if you have been to Paris, you can picture it all.
I kept thinking, when is something going to happen? Long book, not really worth the effort--although the last 25% of the book is quite a page turner.
Spokane's finest. And don't mess around on the res- those guys are ballers!
This was a really great read. I've seem to have fallen into a British/teen/girl book trend and this one did not disappoint. This is a book about a comedic girl and her off-beat friend who fall apart but are able to pick back up once they realize the thing between them that everyone else seems to already know about.
My favorite of all time...you won't be able to put it down. I wanted it to continue...the story was so gripping and takes you on a wonderful journey and explores the human condition, love and loss. This is an absolute must read
