Disappointing. Quoting the Goodreads review: "Going deep inside the minds and hearts of her utterly believable characters..." sad to say, the situations were not that believeable. The characters all suffered some devasting losses, but each loss was described clinically, for example, Barbara's divorce, Chris's disappearance, Vicki's affairs. I like Joy Fieldings later novels, but this one disappointed me.
