As usual, Michael Connelly doesn't disappoint. In this book we have the double pleasure of 'legal eagle' Mickey Haller meeting up with the detective Hieronymus Bosch, a secondary character in this adventure, who plays a supporting but nevertheless important role. Plenty of twists as one would expect. Excellent read.
I am happy to have discovered William Boyd (thank you, Paul A.) and will read more of his books. This one, entirely told in journals, creates a fully-imagined life (complete with footnotes, meetings with the Duke of Windsor and casual associations with members the art world including Virginia Woolf, Picasso, and Hemingway, to name only 3). However, I did tire of reading about Logan Mountstuart before the end of the 480-page book. As a slice of British life in the first half of the 20th century, the book captures the world vividly.
Reading the book aloud to the 11-year-old; wonderful read on how people make something great.
