Definitely not my favorite of the series but a fun read.
Whenever she see's something odd, Katie reminds herself she isn't in Texas anymore. New York City is home to all types and staring would only mark her as a hick. Then she finds out that some of those "fake" fairy wings and plastic pointed ears weren't fake at all. Katie is a normal girl. She's so normal and without magic that spells won't work on her, not even spells of concealment & illusion cast by the magic community to hide their existence. This makes Katie a valuable employment prospect to MSI, inc (Magic, Spells & Illusions, Inc) and she suddenly has a new job, new friends and a new crush. She just has to find a way to stop a competitor marketing harmful spells. I really enjoyed this book. It was a light, fun read. The various characters at MSI were funny and interesting. I'll definitely be reading the next book in this series.
Cleopatra is certainly an iconic figure who jumps off the page in this bio. Schiff's writing is engaging but she is a bit too fond of the parenthetical. Long, woven sentences that take a bit to digest.
