I had never read this Eric Carle book but I was not surprised at how creative it was! I really like this for teaching shapes or following directions. This book is like a list of directions to reach a final destination, with the ultimate present- A PUPPY! This is cute for any student that likes a little adventure in their reading.
It didn't last very long--these things never do--but this book totally made me want to spend the rest of my evenings cooking extremely delicious and fancy food. Bill Buford's story of his obsession with becoming a cook--starting with a couple of months in Mario Batali's kitchen at Babbo, then a full year at Babbo, and then months learning to become an apprentice butcher in Tuscany--is totally engrossing and made me hungry in all the right ways. Now if someone could only pay me a little more so I could afford more than two nice meals a month...
I don't think I could cover what I've learned from this book in an entire month, and I haven't finished it yet. Simply, Dr. Hammer's insight is gold. If you're a student of Chinese Medicine, buy this book and start learning it. At least, if you want to cure people. If you're a Western Doc, buy this book and see what happens when you understand the problems and fix them. You'll be pleasantly shocked.
