A bit naive and sentimental. Maybe it was so hyped ahead of time. Craft: She planted things she didn't pay off; and paid off things she didn't plant. But a good debut novel. I LOVE the author's story. She got rejected 60 times, kept going back to rewrite, and finally found a publisher. for would-be authors, that is happy, hopeful news.

Decent thriller. I don't like math, but I liked this book. Good plane read.

** spoiler alert ** I think this could be the beginning of a great series. The following are more my thoughts and musings about what is in store for this series rather than an actual review of the book. I really liked the world Ward has created. One thing I'm interested in is seeing how Ward spins the whole 7 deadly sins aspect. So the 7 deadly sins are: Greed, Lust, Pride, Wrath, Envy, Gluttony and Sloth. 7 souls right? So, Vin was Greed. Most of the other sins will, plot wise, be easy enough to turn the hero (or heroine)around. But how is she going to turn a character with sins such as Sloth and Gluttony into a hero/heroine? The images I conjure of these sins are from the movie Seven with Brad Pitt, Gyneth Paltrow, and Morgan Freedman. Seeing those 7 deadly sins was NOT pretty. Will these be some of the souls the Angel's are unable to save? I wonder if it will always be the hero with the sins to battle or will the heroines also be plagued with a deadly sin? I really enjoyed this book however it didn't get a higher rating because like so many of the other reviews I've seen on this book I didn't particularly care for either h/h. I did love the world building and the Angels and Jim. I'm very interested to see how this series plays out.
